I am a research scientist at the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve . I use iNaturalist extensively in the Coastal Ecology class I teach at UC San Diego.

My research is focused around understanding patterns of plant distributions. I work at scales ranging from small field plots to aerial and satellite imagery. I recently published a paper on the use of iNaturalist observations in vegetation mapping, and I'm looking forward to continuing to explore applications for ecosystem monitoring.
